Toby Keith Covel, better known by his stage name Toby Keith, is an American country music performer, songwriter, actor, and record producer.
He was born on July 8, 1961. Before departing Mercury Records in 1998, he put out his first four studio albums for the company:
Toby Keith (1993), Boomtown (1994), Blue Moon (1996), Dream Walkin’ (1997), and a Best Hits package. His debut hit,
“Should’ve Been a Cowboy,” which topped the country charts and became the most-played country song of the 1990s, was among the Top Ten singles from these albums, all of which received Gold or higher certification.

While acknowledging that his illness is “pretty debilitating, Keith added, “as long as everything stays hunky-dory, then we’ll look at something good in the future.”
Keith discussed his situation with CMT Hot 20 Countdown. He said, “I need a little bit of time to rest up and heal up.” In June, Keith announced that he was ill and postponed events so that he could receive treatment.
However, he had made a few public appearances, including one in November at the Jeff Ruby Steakhouse in Lexington, Kentucky, when he sang “I Love This Bar” and “Sweet Home Alabama” by Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Toby Keith’s Health Update
Toby Keith, nominated for seven Grammy awards and named artist of the year by the Academy of Country Music in 2002 and 2003, confirmed on Sunday that he had stomach cancer.
Keith, 60, shared updates about his health on social media.
“Last fall, I was diagnosed with stomach cancer,” he wrote on Instagram. “I’ve spent the last 6 months receiving chemo, radiation, and surgery. So far, so good. I need time to breathe, recover and relax.
I am looking forward to spending this time with my family. But I will see the fans sooner than later. I can’t wait.”
Keith won’t be appearing at his booked engagements “for now,” according to his publicist, Elaine Schock. This coming Friday marked the commencement of his most recent tour.
