Many famous people remember their encounters with the late Queen Elizabeth II, who has been mourned worldwide. According to Badalamenti, “when ‘Twin Peaks’ was taking off internationally, he took a Concorde to London to record with Paul McCartney at Abbey Road. I’ll tell you a story,” he said. He had been asked to perform at the Queen’s birthday party not long before we met. And when he introduced himself, she said, “I’m sorry, I can’t stay, it’s five to eight and I have to go and watch ‘Twin Peaks!’
Although the former Beatle’s feelings of insult are understandable, it’s hard to blame the Queen for wanting to catch the show. During its original run, “Twin Peaks” was something that viewers scheduled time aside to watch because they didn’t want to miss a second of the mystery surrounding the murder of Laura Palmer.
In the days before streaming and on-demand viewing, Queen Elizabeth II likely reasoned that she could watch “Twin Peaks” whenever she pleased and that there would be other opportunities to see Paul McCartney in concert. The new season of your favorite program has dropped, and you must cancel plans to watch it all at once.
