Tom Brady, Mariah Carey, Jon Hamm, And More Are Featured In The FIFA World Cup ‘Superfan Santa’ Campaign

Fox Sports is getting ready for the most delightful time of the year, at least for those who follow soccer: the World Cup.

The network debuted a new promotional campaign on Friday, October 7, to promote its role as the English-language home for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. The campaign kicked off with unveiling of a star-studded TV spot titled “Superfan Santa” in celebration of the highly anticipated sporting event, which will begin on Sunday, November 20, and continue through Sunday, December 18.

The campaign continues from the last advertisement, which had Jon Hamm in the role of Santa Claus on vacation. In the ad, Santa learns that the 2022 FIFA World Cup will be held during the holiday season.

The new commercial takes viewers to the North Pole, where they are introduced to Mrs Claus, played by Ellie Kemper of “The Office” and “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt.” The commercial also features cameos from Tom Brady, winner of seven NFL Super Bowls, and Mariah Carey, known as the “Queen of Christmas,” who has won multiple Grammy Awards.

Also appearing in the commercial are members of the United States Men’s National Team (USMNT), including Christian Pulisic, Walker Zimmerman, and West.

At the beginning of the advertisement, Santa Claus is shown at his office at the North Pole, staring at a wall of televisions broadcasting highlights from international soccer. Santa is visibly annoyed by the shift in attention during the holiday season.

Mrs Claus tries to cheer up her husband by telling him that the group of American supporters who are chanting in the stands are simply Christmas carolers. Santa’s heart grows three times bigger as he realises what a fantastic platform the FIFA World Cup will provide to spread holiday cheer.

Santa Claus concludes that the best gift American football fans could receive would be for their team to win the World Cup. Because it will be the first time the World Cup is held during the holiday season, the 2022 tournament will be historic and one of a kind. The objective of our creative campaign, which will feature some of the most famous people in the world today, is to make sure that people are aware of just how momentous this occasion will be.

According to Robert Gottlieb, President of Marketing for Fox Sports, “combining the most important athletic event in the world with the most exciting and joyous time of the year is like giving fans a present that keeps on giving all year long.”

Collaborating with Fox Sports has been a lot of fun to help set the stage for this historic winter World Cup. Like Santa, I am a tremendous fan of the Globe Cup, and I can’t wait until November to watch the United States squad compete against the rest of the world. I believe!” added Hamm.

Brady stated that he has a tremendous amount of respect for these sportsmen and that he enjoys watching them compete. It was a privilege to participate in the Fox Sports advertising campaign. When the tournament begins, I will be able to witness the greatest athletes in the world competing at their absolute peak in the World Cup.

On Sunday, October 9, “Superfan Santa” will debut on each network.
