The Seven Deadly Sins is a series that has moved fast, only stumbling in the last few episodes. However, the original manga ended two years before the anime series began.
The series is very formulaic in its structure, with things being done in a certain way in every episode/chapter/volume.
It can be frustrating for someone who wants a change from how things have been done before, but it certainly feels like a crafted story instead of something where characters go around doing whatever they want.
There is an overarching plot with more than just one conclusion, and while some twists are telegraphed, others will take the viewer by complete surprise.
It is the kind of series that will make most adults stop in their tracks when they realize the children in front of them are watching something with a lot of swearing and violence. However, most younger viewers will be able to watch this without any issue.
The series does suffer from significant pacing issues in most individual episodes/chapters/volumes. The pacing varies from episode to episode, making for a complete shift in the story at the end.
In other episodes, something is going on in one scene, and then a completely different thing in another location that could be taken out of context or positioned another way by the next scene.
The series does have an overarching plot that has more than just one conclusion, and while some twists are telegraphed, others will take the viewer by complete surprise.
The first season is just the characters finding each other again after ten years apart. It’s about them getting back into shape and trying to become a team again while dealing with their demons, though some monsters are more literal than others.
