Getting to know his closest associates! Days before she and the former One Direction member fuelled romance speculations, Selena Gomez was photographed having dinner with Zayn Malik’s assistant, Taryn Zimmerman.
On March 21, Zimmerman and The Only Murders in the Building actor, 30, were spotted leaving Nobu in New York. Gomez wore dark gray pants and a shirt to complete her Manhattan cool look for the evening.
The ensemble completed platform boots, an oversized black jacket, and a scarf. In contrast, Zimmerman wore a tan coat over her dark outfit, accessorizing with a small Adidas purse and sandals. Her hair was braided into pigtails at the rear.
Only two days later, on March 23, the Wizards of Waverly Place alum and “Pillowtalk” singer, 30, were caught holding hands and kissing in New York City’s SoHo district. The two had dinner at the celebrity hotspot.
But, a source exclusively revealed to Us Weekly earlier this week that the London native has known the “Lose You to Love Me” vocalist “for years” and is “definitely into her.” Neither Gomez nor Malik has publicly addressed the related claims.
“He’s always admired her and thinks she’s an incredible person, inside and out,” the insider shared, noting that the duo isn’t “super serious” or exclusive. “She’s free to see other people. However, Zayn would love to continue to see Selena and see where things go,” the source explained.
Gomez has most recently been linked to Chainsmokers’ Drew Taggart, although Malik hasn’t been seen with anybody since splitting from Gigi Hadid in October 2021. The supermodel, 27, and musician, who have been together six years on and off, have a daughter named Khai, who is two years old.
“He’s been focused on himself these past few years and feels like he’s ready to date again,” the insider shared with Us of Malik. “He’s feeling optimistic about the possibility of things growing between him and Selena but isn’t putting any pressure on the situation. He’d rather just let things progress organically and believes she feels the same.”
A second insider told Us earlier this month that Hadid would have “no problem whatsoever” with Malik dating, regarding how she feels about her ex moving on, presumably with the former Disney star.
“As long as he is happy and stable and continues to be a good coparent to [their daughter] Khai, she’s fine with whoever he goes out with,” the insider said, adding that Hadid herself is “moving on” and “having fun” when it comes to her romantic life.
Since they were seen hanging out during New York Fashion Week in September 2022, the founder of Guest in Residence has been linked to Leonardo DiCaprio.
Though they separated after a few months, there were whispers of a reconciliation in February after they were repeatedly photographed together after the breakup.
