Mounted Border Patrol’s Investigation Going On At A Snail’s Pace

Days, after the Biden administration decided to demobilize units of Border Patrol agents in Del Rio, Texas after the controversy broke out over the methods used by the horseback riders towards treating people like cattle, heard and bad-mouthing them to dispense the Haitian migrants, DHS decided to take matters into its own hands and penalize the officers. President Biden called the incident “outrageous,” and said, “I promise you, those people will pay.”

The slow-paced investigation is causing parties advocating from both sides, has made little progress. During September, one of the worst phases of the ongoing pandemic, over 15,000 migrants settled in a number of temporary shanties under the Del Rio International Bridge.

These people were also accompanied by thousands of asylum seekers from Haiti.
“This is why your country’s s**t, because you use your women for this,” one mounted agent was heard shooing away the migrants in a viral video, as a man had joined with the women and children attempting to pass.

Due to the severe backlash faced Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas announced Border Patrol agents to be temporarily suspended until the investigation against them concluded. They also were prevented to have any further interactions with the migrants.

“I want to assure you that we are addressing this with tremendous speed and tremendous force,” Mayorkas vowed in front of the Press, adding that the investigation by the Office of Professional Responsibility would “be completed in days — not weeks.”
