Colorado Springs Police Chief Adrian Vasquez said that the suspect in the shooting at Club Q was a man named Anderson Lee Aldrich. A long rifle and another gun were discovered at the scene, he said.

According to Vasquez at least two people were present in the nightclub at the time of the shooting and were able to stop the gunman. He said We owe them a great debt of thanks. The scene is similar to the 2016 shooting at an LGBTQ nightclub in Orlando, Florida in which a gunman who pledged allegiance to the Islamic State killed 49 people and wounded at least 53.
