In recent years, there have been multiple mass shootings in Colorado. Ten people were killed by a sniper in a Boulder supermarket in 2021. More than a dozen people were killed when a gunman opened fire in an Aurora, Colorado, movie theatre in 2019. Thirteen people were shot and killed by two gunmen at Columbine High School in 1999.
