Graham Nash, a friend and former bandmate of David Crosby, has disclosed that the singer passed away after getting COVID-19 a second time.
After a “long illness,” Crosby passed away in January at 81, but no other information was provided at the time. But on Friday, Nash revealed information about Crosby’s passing in a podcast interview with “Kyle Meredith With…”
Nash said, “He was practicing for a gig he would do in Los Angeles with a full band. “After three days of practice, he started to feel a little queasy. Additionally, he had COVID once before and again.
He went home and made the decision to take a nap, but he never awoke. But it’s wonderful that he passed away in bed. “I mean, the fact that he made it to 81 was astonishing,” the rocker continued. “But [his de@th] was a shock.

After receiving a hepatitis C diagnosis in the early 1990s, Crosby struggled with health concerns for decades. He received a liver transplant in 1994, which Phil Collins covered.
Crosby discussed receiving the life-saving liver transplant and said he was feeling “very healthy” in an interview with The Post from 2002.
“I have seven extra years on my life after I was supposed to be dead,” the thankful musician said. “It’s a slow-moving disease, and it’ll take another 20 years for it to ki!! this liver. I’ll take the 20 years. Hep C is one of the worst problems the world has to face.”
Only a few months have passed since Nash paid his longtime, on-and-off friend a heartfelt tribute before revealing the cause of Crosby’s de@th.
For many years, Crosby and Nash were at odds. In a 2021 interview with the Guardian, Crosby stated: “Graham just changed from the guy I thought was my best friend to being a guy that is definitely my enemy, so I don’t see any future there at all.”
However, after Crosby passed away, Nash shared a heartfelt tribute on Instagram. “I know people tend to focus on how volatile our relationship has been at times, but what has always mattered to David and me more than anything was the pure joy of the music we created together, the sound we discovered with one another, and the deep friendship we shared over all these many long years,” Nash wrote.
“David was fearless in life and in music. He leaves behind a tremendous void as far as sheer personality and talent in this world. He spoke his mind, his heart, and his passion through his beautiful music and leaves an incredible legacy. These are the things that matter most.”
Prior to Crosby’s passing, the two of them were in the middle of reconciling, as Nash revealed to AARP magazine in February.
“The fact is that we were getting a little closer at the end. He had sent me a voicemail saying that he wanted to talk to apologize, and could we set up a time to talk,” he told the magazine. “I emailed him back and said, ‘Okay, call me at 11 o’clock tomorrow your time, which is 2 o’clock on the East Coast.’ He never called, and then he was gone.”
For the first time in three years, Crosby played in February 2022 during a surprise gig in Santa Barbara, California. His four adult children and wife, Jan Dance, are left behind.
