Kaczynski attended Harvard University after completing his high school education at Evergreen Park High School at 16. He later worked as an assistant professor at the University of California-Berkeley.
He thereafter left society, built and moved into a remote cabin in Montana, where he started to deliver b0mbs. His early victims were from the Chicago area in large numbers. A mail b0mb hurt an officer of the Northwestern University Police in May 1978.
A graduate student from Northwestern was harmed a year later. A b0mb went off six months later, injuring 12 people on an American Airlines flight from Chicago to Washington.
