Aziz Ansari To Star in Seth Rogen’s Good Fortune

Aziz Ansari (Parks and Recreation), nominated for and won multiple Emmy Awards, will direct, write, and star in the upcoming comedy picture Good Fortune, which Lionsgate will produce. Ansari will be making his feature film directing debut with this.

Joe Drake, the head of the Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, revealed the existence of the new movie today. The film has received the official go-ahead, and principal photography is set to begin in Los Angeles, California.

Seth Rogen and Keanu Reeves are among the cast members joining Aziz Ansari. However, the specifics of the movie are still being kept under wraps. In addition to directing, writing, and acting in Good Fortune, Aziz Ansari will also work as a producer alongside Anthony Katagas and Alan Yang.

Ansari and Yang previously collaborated on the television series Master of None. Brady Fujikawa and Jon Humphrey from Lionsgate will be responsible for the movie’s production. The contract was negotiated for Lionsgate by Dan Freedman, Phil Strina, John Biondo, and Matt Leonetti.

Along with the film being set to start filming next month, Lionsgate is set to launch sales for the film at Cannes next month. “We have indeed found good fortune with this film,” said Drake in a statement that joined the film’s announcement.

“We love the script and believe strongly in Aziz as both a performer and a director. And when you add in Seth and Keanu — two incredible world-class talents — toplining alongside Aziz, this has the potential to be a very special film for us. We moved quickly to land this project once it was available.”

The Praise for the Fortune Team

Ansari is best recognized for his part as Tom Haverford in the famous comedy series Parks and Recreation, but he won the most significant recognition for his performance in the aforementioned Master of None.

Because of his work on Master of None, he has received seven Emmy nominations, and in 2016 and 2017, he took home two prizes for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series.

Yang, whose most recent accomplishments include serving as the co-creator and showrunner of the Maya Rudolph-starring series Loot at Apple TV+, received the first prize jointly.

Here are some further updates that are similar to this one:

For his work on 12 Years a Slave, Katagas received an Academy Award. Amsterdam and Armageddon Time are two of his most recent movies.

Rogen recently completed filming The Super Mario Bros. Movie, a big hit shattering several box office records in which he played Donkey Kong. Rogen will also appear in the upcoming motion picture Dumb Money and the AppleTV+ series Platonic, where he will co-star with Rose Byrne.

For his company Point Grey, which is based at Lionsgate, Rogen also serves as a producer. In July, they’ll release Joy Ride, their upcoming movie.

Reeves is fresh off the massive box office triumph of fellow Lionsgate movie John Wick: Chapter 4, which has so far grossed over $350 million globally and growing. He will resume his role as the titular John Wick in the upcoming spin-off of the action-packed franchise Ballerina, starring Ana de Armas.

No release date or window is set for Good Fortune, which will begin development next month. For more information on the upcoming comedy movie, keep checking Collider. In the meantime, you can watch our interview with Reeves for John Wick 4 below.
