Sing 2 Storyline
After the events of the previous film, Buster Moon’s new theatre is prospering. Buster reunites the group after failing to impress talent scout Suki, who claims they won’t succeed in Redshore City. They snuck in for an audition with Jimmy Crystal, a well-known Hollywood entrepreneur. Clay Calloway—a rock star who hasn’t been seen in 15 years—is Gunter’s alternative programme proposal for the void left by Buster’s initial show idea. Three weeks is the deadline for the programme to be up and running, which intrigues Crystal.
Due to Rosita’s inability to maintain her part throughout rehearsal, her daughter Porsha is cast in her place, while Rosita takes on a supporting role. In other news, Klaus Kickenklober, the top choreographer for the show, has assigned Johnny to work with him, but he gets a feeling that Klaus doesn’t like him. Nooshy, a street dancer, offers to lend a hand to Johnny. With Darius, Meena has been cast in a love scene, but Meena has no connection with him. Alfonso, an ice cream seller, is the passion of her life.
On their way to the performance, Buster and Ash visit Clay Calloway; he first refuses, but Ash succeed in changing his mind. While at the theatre, Porsha is asked if she would want to trade parts with Rosita, which she perceives as Buster firing her. After finding this, Crystal locks Buster in a cupboard and threatens to dump him out of his building.
Suki frees Buster and advises him to leave Redshore City before Crystal kills him. To help Buster and the group cope with the loss of his wife, Calloway comes with Ash. He then has the actors and crew put on the play that night, and Mrs. Crawly has Porsha join them as a cast member.
Meena imagines Darius as Alfonso and performs a loving duet with him, while Klaus takes the place of Johnny’s performance partner in an attempt to undermine his number, but Johnny defeats Klaus and eventually gains Klaus’ respect. Rosita overcomes her phobia of heights in order to rescue Buster, who is dropped from the top of the stage by Crystal once she learns about the play.
A anxious Clay Calloway insists that he is not ready to perform when the moment arrives. A version of one of Calloway’s songs by Ash inspires him to perform in front of a rapturous audience.
The group is ready to go home after Crystal gets detained for the performance when Suki informs them that a large theatre wants to stage their production. Buster stands proudly in the VIP area as the group performs their debut show in Redshore City.
