Konami Has Announced The Return Of Silent Hill

Masahiro Ito, who has worked on many Silent Hill games as a monster designer and art director, shared the news on Twitter.

So, what should we think? There have been rumors of Silent Hill projects in the works for the past few years, but nothing more concrete than the appearance of “Silent Hill: The Short Message” on the Korean video games rating board last month.

Separately, there have been rumors for a long time that Bloober Team, the studio that made Layers of Fear, is making a remake of Silent Hill 2. Concept art and screenshots that look like they are from this project have also been leaked online.

The statement made by Silent Hill movie director Christophe Gans earlier this month that “many teams” are working on “various games” is the piece of evidence that has provided us with the most solid proof that other Silent Hill projects are currently being developed. Back in the year 2020, the director who was always chatting said that it was time “to film a new [Silent Hill movie]”. Who knows, maybe we’ll get some more information on that on Wednesday.

You can have a look at Konami’s very rudimentary teaser site for Silent Hill down below if you’re interested. The site isn’t even live yet. Stay tuned for more this coming Wednesday at 10 o’clock at night in the UK.

The culmination of all of these events has ultimately resulted in Konami stating that Silent Hill would return in some form or another and revealing that a Silent Hill Transmission will take place on Wednesday, October 19, at 2:00 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time. In what is most likely going to take the shape of a live feed, The Silent Hill Transmission will provide informational updates regarding the survival horror series.

Along with today’s announcement comes the unveiling of a new Silent Hill webpage on Konami’s website. The page features a new logo for the franchise but does not present users with any additional information about the game.

Masahito Ito, who served as the art director for Team Silent from 1999 until 2007, has retweeted the news, which raises doubts regarding what teams could be connected with the announcement made on Wednesday and may perhaps support Christophe Gans’s accusations. There is a possibility that the return of Silent Hill will not be the only franchise that Konami plans to bring back in the future years.

According to a report that was published by the VGC the previous year, Konami plans to revive its classic Castlevania and Metal Gear Solid IPs with new games and remakes as well. However, it would appear that Silent Hill has been designated as the first franchise to showcase what Konami has been working on over the past few years.

More Game-Related News:

The Silent Hill franchise and PlayStation have a long history of productive collaboration, which raises the possibility of an exclusive publishing agreement for the series in the future.

The idea of a PS5 exclusive pact has been a recurrent point of discussion in the multitude of leaks and speculations concerning Silent Hill over the course of the past year. It’s possible that further Silent Hill news may be revealed during a prospective PlayStation Showcase, and that Wednesday’s Silent Hill Transmission could be a teaser for it.
