Dr. Noguchi, who testified that he personally performed the three-hour autopsy, stated that the body had no post-mortem wounds, indicating she had been hanged before or while dying from the stab wounds.

Dr. Noguchi testified, using a life-sized sketch of the 26-year-old actress’ body to show where the 16 stab wounds and two cuts were, that her death was caused by “multiple stab wounds of the chest and back, penetrating the heart, lungs, and liver and causing massive hemorrhage.”

Manson, scowling and scratching his beard at the counsel table, gazed first at the seven-member, five-woman jury, then at the Japanese-born pathologist as he continued his thorough evidence. Susan Atkins, Leslie Van Houten, and Patricia Krenwinkel sat calmly, almost motionless. A Twitter page “Amygdala” posted an image of Sharon Tate’s Autopsy Sheet, You can check it out below.

Only once, when the coroner was discussing one of the seven autopsy photos of the actress’ body, did one of them, Miss Atkins, move. Her whole body shook as if she had been startled. Dr. Noguchi stated that five of the 16 stab wounds and two cuts “by themselves…would have been fatal.”  Three more wounds, he claimed, were potentially lethal.

Dr. Noguchi described four four-inch deep stab wounds in the chest that reached the heart and lungs as lethal, as was a five-inch deep stab wound in the upper abdomen that penetrated the liver. The doctor called three of the actress’s eight stab wounds in her back, which entered her lungs, “potentially fatal.” She had also been stabbed in the upper right and upper left arms, as well as the back of her right leg, and she had two serious slashes on her left forearm.

Dr. Noguchi testified that the actress was eight months pregnant with a baby boy “in the normal state of development.” He said the infant had suffered no harm, but he thought it lived “no more than 10 or 15 minutes after the maternal death occurred…only as long as circulation existed.”

What Happened That Night?

On the evening of August 8th, 1969, while waiting for her husband and child’s father, Roman Polanski, to return from Europe, Sharon declined an invitation to a small celebratory dinner party, instead going out for a quick meal at her favorite restaurant, El Coyote, with her friends Jay Sebring (hairdresser to the stars), Wojtek Frykowski (playboy), and Abigail Folger (coffee empire heiress). At around 10:30 p.m., the group would return to her home at 10050 Cielo Drive.

The maid encounters a horrifying sight the next morning when she arrives for housecleaning duties. The dead were thrown about the house and grounds in a bloody heap. After dropping acid, four of Charles Manson’s followers, Charles “Tex Watson, Susan Atkins, Patricia Krenwinkel, and Linda Kasabian (Krenwinkel was previously introduced to Charles Manson by Beach Boy Dennis Wilson), allegedly drove out to Sharon’s estate, scaled the embankment to bypass the locked security gate, climbed the telephone pole to cut the phone lines, and headed down the dimly lit driveway towards the house. Kasabian would stand guard outside the security gate.

As the bloodthirsty trio approached the house, they were met by Steve Parent, a friend of the housekeeper, who was exiting the property in his car. Watson would slice Parent with a knife and shoot him in the face four times at close range. The parent died very instantly, it’s safe to say. That poor soul was simply at the wrong place at the wrong time.

When they arrived at the house, they slit the screen and Tex climbed inside after assisting the females. Inside, they pushed everyone into the living room and lined them up in front of the fireplace like a firing line. A fight broke out, and Jay Sebring was shot. Everyone began to struggle and flee. Wojciech Frykowski fled via the front door but was quickly apprehended and shot twice, stabbed 51 times, and bludgeoned over the head with more than a dozen pistol butt hits.

Though he died swiftly, he most likely endured a considerable deal of pain before succumbing. Nearby, Folger tried to leave out the rear bedroom door but was caught in the grass, where she was stabbed only 28 times and left in a white dress that resembled scarlet owing to severe blood loss.
