Meem was quoted in the Richmond Times-Dispatch as saying, “We met briefly in high school,” as part of the couple’s wedding announcement in 2012. “Then again at a summer party and after that started seeing each other.”
While the two were still in school, they started d@ting and carried on a relationship despite the distance that separated them. Meem relocated from the University of Georgia to North Carolina State University to be nearer to her boyfriend Wilson.
One year after receiving her diploma, her boyfriend moved to the University of Wisconsin to play football for the Badgers.
On the first of August in 2010, Wilson surprised President Obama by booking a stay for him in the Presidential Suite of an upmarket hotel in Cary, North Carolina. He dropped down on one knee and proposed to Meem, with their dog Penny acting as a witness.
Her parents were waiting outside to offer congratulations, but as Wilson recounted, “I had arranged for everyone in the lobby to be quiet.” Her parents eventually entered the building and congratulated her on her achievement.
The ceremony took place on January 14, 2012, at the Country Club of Virginia, in front of three hundred guests. However, the honeymoon had to be postponed because the wedding took place in the middle of Wilson’s NFL training at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.

Meem and Wilson experienced a wonderful honeymoon time together. The Seattle Seahawks chose Wilson in the third round of the 2012 NFL Draft three months after he and his new wife tied the knot.

After that, he signed a contract that was for $2.99 million over the course of four years. However, behind the scenes, their journey eventually encountered some difficult times. Wilson submitted his petition for divorce in April 2014.
“I have made the difficult decision to file for divorce. Clearly, decisions like these don’t come easy. Ashton and I respectfully ask for prayers, understanding and privacy during this difficult time. Moving forward, I will have no further comment on this personal matter.”
