The legendary musician later expressed his disappointment on social media: “I’m downhearted that I’m disappointing my fans who purchased tickets to A Day On The Green.
“Late this morning, I was advised that I have a viral infection, and my throat is too irritated to sing. “I’m only human and sometimes get sick as you do. My greatest joy is performing for you, so I’m doing everything possible to get on the mend and back on stage.“
”We apologize for the disappointment and inconvenience for ticket holders.”A further announcement regarding the concert arrangements will be made early next week.”

He told the audience that he had told his wife Penny Lancaster in advance that he intended to use the occasion to “come out,” according to the Mirror.
He said his wife replied: “Tonight would be a nice night to come out of the closet.” The rocker told the crowd: ”No, it’s not what you think. Two years ago, I was diagnosed with prostate cancer.”
