On June 28, 1974, Dyrdek was born in Kettering, Ohio. When he was 11 years old, professional skateboarder Neil Blender gave him his first board. As a result, he became obsessed with realising his dream of making it as a professional skateboarder. He daydreamed about all the tricks he was going to try out on the skateboard while at school, and then he would skate until his parents made him come in for the night.

His professional skateboarding career kicked off when he was just 12 years old, thanks to a generous sponsor. It was his dream to become a professional skateboarder, so at the age of sixteen he uprooted his life and headed to Southern California.

Soon after moving to California, Dyrdek began to ride for DC Shoes. Up until the year 2016, DC Shoes was Dyrdek’s sponsor. Dyrdek has been sponsored by Silver Trucks, EA Skate, and Monster Energy. Street League Skateboarding was created in 2010 by Dyrdek.

There is now a $1.6 million prize and the competition has gone global. This competition was the focus of Rob Dyrdek’s documentary “The Motivation.” The film premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2013.

“Rob & Big” ran on MTV for three seasons with more than 30 episodes produced from November 2006 to April 2008. “Rob Dyrdek’s Fantasy Factory” ran for 70 episodes over seven seasons starting in February 2009. “Rob Dyrdek’s Fantasy Factory” takes place in a converted warehouse known as the Fantasy Factory.
