Martin Scorsese is best known for his classic films about wise men and gangsters. However, in his upcoming feature Killers of the Flower Moon, the director is branching out into a new genre with his first Western.
The film, based on journalist David Grann’s 2017 nonfiction book Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI, chronicles the story of at least twenty murdered Osage Tribe members in Oklahoma during the 1920s.
The film rights to Grann’s book were sold in 2016, a year before his book was even published, however filming on the highly anticipated picture did not begin until 2021. Martin Scorsese was brought on board after a series of directors expressed interest in the project without actually signing on.
Production was supposed to start in March 2020, but the COVID-19 epidemic pushed it back to mid-2021. Here’s everything we know thus far about the project.

It will only be shown in a few theaters starting on October 6, and then it will be shown in more theaters later that month.

Killers Of The Flower Moon Cast
Killers of the Flower Moon has a star-studded cast, led by Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro, and Lily Gladstone. Ernest Burkhart, a white guy who marries into the Osage Nation and becomes engaged in a series of killings, is played by DiCaprio. De Niro plays FBI agent Tom White, who is tasked with investigating the murders. Mollie Burkhart, Ernest’s Osage wife, is played by Gladstone.
Jesse Plemons, Tantoo Cardinal, John Lithgow, and Brendan Fraser all play important roles in the supporting cast. Plemons portrays Henry Standing Bear, a local cop who assists White in his inquiry. Anna Brown, Mollie Burkhart’s grandmother, is played by Cardinal. William Hale, a wealthy white man suspected of involvement in the murders, is played by Lithgow. Horace Bass, the nephew of William Hale, is played by Fraser.

Killers Of The Flower Moon Plot Speculations
Killers of the Flower Moon takes place in the early 1920s in Osage County, Oklahoma. Because oil has been found on their land, the Osage are the richest Native American tribe in the United States. But because of their wealth, they have also been taken advantage of and hurt.
A number of Osage people who have inherited oil money are killed in a string of murders. The FBI is asked to look into it, and Tom White, who used to be a Texas Ranger, is in charge. White has to deal with a lot of problems during his research, like the fact that the local police officers are racist and dishonest.
The movie shows how White tries to figure out who killed the people and bring them to justice. Along the way, he finds out a dark and troubling truth about the Osage people and the people who have taken advantage of them.
The movie is based on David Grann’s book of the same name. The book was well-received by critics and sold a lot of copies. It has been praised for its thorough study and honest look at the Osage murders.
