Fans of How I Met Your Mother have had to wait. , and now they’re hoping it will be legendary! We’re talking about Hulu’s How I Met Your Father, which is a spinoff of HIMYM. Since the HIMYM finale aired on CBS in 2014, the long-awaited spinoff has gone through many versions that never made it to air.
Now, the franchise wants to give a whole new take on love, dating, romance, and nostalgia, this time from a woman’s point of view.
TV Line has reported that Paget Brewster from Criminal Minds has been cast as Lori, the single mother and former model who had Sophie when she was young. “She makes her first appearance in the Feb. 8 episode called “The Good Mom,” when Sophie’s mother shows up unexpectedly and makes Valentina worry more about her best friend.”
Sophie, played by Hilary Duff, grew up with a “party girl mother,” which was shown in the HIMYF pilot. In the third episode, Sophie told Jesse that she had “a messed-up childhood.”
Brewster is only scheduled to appear in one episode of Season 1, but she could come back if there is a Season 2. How I Met Your Father was ordered by Hulu in April 2021 from producers Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger. Carter Bays and Craig Thomas, the original creators of HIMYM, have been working on the project with Aptaker and Berger.
“Listen up, kids! I’m going to tell you a really cool story. It’s the story of how two writers got to make their dream TV show for nine seasons and now get to pass the torch to an inspired new creative team with their own amazing story to tell,” Bays and Thomas said in a joint statement, which was reported by TV Line. “Their passion and vision make us proud, and we can’t wait to help them tell a new story that will go down in history.” Ready to brush up on some “general knowledge” about How I Met Your Father?
