An adult driver struck and ki!!ed a motorist in Northern California who had stopped to assist a family of ducks cross the street safely, authorities said on Monday.
Around 8:15 p.m. PDT on Thursday, the horrible acc*dent occurred in Rocklin, roughly 25 miles northeast of Sacramento, near Park Drive and Stanford Ranch Road, Rocklin police stated.
According to a police statement, the guy was struck and ki!!ed while “trying to help some ducklings that were in the intersection” by the younger driver traveling east on Stanford Ranch.

No harm was done to the ducks. While the investigation is ongoing, it’s unlikely that the 17-year-old driver will be charged with a crime, Rocklin police Capt. Scott Horrillo.
Horrillo told NBC News, “We still have a lot of areas and evidence to sort through, but at first look it does not look like there’s going to be any criminal negligence.”
Placer County Sheriff’s official Casey Rivara, 41, was the victim. A 12-year-old child told NBC Sacramento station KCRA that the tragedy occurred in front of neighbors who praised Rivara for her kind actions.
The youngster described, “He got out of the car and was shooing the ducks and everyone was clapping because he was being really nice.”
“He helped them get up over the curb because all the little baby duckies were having trouble and then he walked in front of our car.”

The deceased’s widow, Angel Chow, said the sympathy touched her expressed. In a statement on Sunday night, she wrote, “We have been deeply touched by the overwhelming love and support we’ve received for Casey Rivara and our family in these past few days.”
“We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to all of you for the kind messages and gestures of kindness. It’s truly humbling to hear how Casey has positively impacted your lives, and we’re extremely grateful for that.”
