Jimmie Allen, a country music performer, is going through a number of changes in his life right now, including the separation from his wife Alexis Gale.
Friday, Allen posted on Instagram that he and Gale had decided to part ways “after much thought.” Additionally, he disclosed that their family would be growing.
“As we navigate this life change, we can also share that we will be welcoming another child together later this year,” he wrote.
“Our number one priority is and always will be ensuring that our children are healthy, happy and loved and we remain committed to co-parenting with love and respect for one another.” On her personal Instagram page, Gale shared a similar statement.

“I wanted to be a dad and do music, that’s it. I never wanted to get married. The whole husband thing was not something I ever wanted to do,” Allen told People. “But Alexis changed that. Now, I like it.”
With the release of his song “Big Shot” in 2018, Allen created music history by being the first Black artist to have his debut single hit No. 1 on the country radio charts.
At the CMA Awards in 2021, he also became the second Black musician to take home the coveted New Artist of the Year trophy. In 2009, Darius Rucker won.
