According to Ganthier, two firearms were located. Although he cannot say for definite whether or not anyone else was involved, he has requested that anyone who was present during the incident and who may have information phone Crimestoppers at the number 822-1111.
Ganthier said-

“This is really not something we wanted to see,”  “We really wanted this to be a safe Mardi Gras.”

An eyewitness told WWL-TV that at least a dozen bullets were fired, and that people were falling all over themselves and leaving everything they had behind as they tried to get out of the way of the gunfire. According to him, there had been a series of confrontations in the same area prior to the shooting, and the officers had to break them up.

Andrew Crawford, a second witness, testified that he was present at the parade with his family when they were all forced to flee in a hurry. “I don’t want to see this happen again during Mardi Gras, you know small children and families. It’s unfortunate. You want to protect the ones you love. It is what it is. It sucks.”

Following the gunshot, the superkrewe of Bacchus was forced to come to an immediate halt on the 1500 block of St. Charles Avenue. A law enforcement official stated that the parade would continue in order to “get out of the way” of the crime scene; however, they would not throw anything while they were in that vicinity.
