During a vigil for an 18-year-old who was shot and killed during a home invasion on Friday, a gunman opened fire on the crowd of mourners, killing another teenager and injuring two others, including a child. After receiving a call about a shooting on Sunday evening, officers were dispatched to the 2000 block of Flat Shoals Parkway to investigate the incident.
They found the body of a 17-year-old teenager who had been found dead at the site when they arrived. A gunshot wound was found on the hand of a 16-year-old boy, who was then transported to a nearby hospital in stable condition. Later, at the Walmart on Gresham Road, an 11-year-old boy was discovered who claimed that he had been shot in the finger while attending the vigil. Additionally, he was transported to the hospital.
A candlelight vigil was held on Sunday for Taneaious McCune, an 18-year-old who was killed a few days ago on Gresham Road. According to the police, a group of people gathered to hold the vigil. According to what the officers were told, the suspect walked up to the 17-year-old victim at that point and shot him before running away on foot.
