Blizzard Entertainment has announced that it will take Overwatch 2 offline on Thursday evening to push out improvements to the game. Overwatch 2 was released on Tuesday in a completely unplayable form, and the game’s development has been bumpy ever since. On Thursday, the Overwatch 2 servers will be taken offline for two different windows to facilitate the deployment of bug fixes and database upgrades.
According to a post that was made on the official forums of the game’s creator, Blizzard, below is the anticipated maintenance schedule for Overwatch 2:
3 p.m. – 4 p.m. PDT: Servers will be down while we’re rolling out a fix to address some bugs related to account merge, login, and the First Time User Experience. Players won’t be able to access the servers during this time.
6 p.m. – 9 p.m. PDT (approximately): We’re conducting significant upgrades to our databases to address player queues. Players won’t be able to access the servers during this time.

Players on PC may need to upgrade the Overwatch 2 client to fix “reports of crashes and black screen difficulties,” as stated by Blizzard.
Overwatch 2 was released Tuesday as a significant update to the game’s first iteration. Still, players experienced issues on day one, including long wait times to get into games, frequent disconnections, and their progress not being carried over.
Blizzard stated that a DDoS attack on their servers caused connectivity troubles and kicked players out of games, in addition to serious server disconnect and player database problems.
