The Following Monday, Apple Will Release iOS 15

In autumn, Apple always surprises us all with its new releases and improvements for the devices.

In an online keynote address in July during the annual Worldwide Developers Conference, Apple revealed the first details of iOS 15. Likewise, the technology giant announced that the free software update would be available from 20 September, as it unveiled the iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Mini, and iPhone 13 Pro during a virtual event at its headquarters in Cupertino, California.

The release of iOS 15 was just a week after Apple released an emergency software patch, iOS 14.8, for iPhones and iPads.

  • iOS 15 release time

The new operating system will be available on 20 September, days before the launch of the new iPhone 13 devices on 24 September. Most years, the new software is available at 10 a.m. PT or 1 p.m. ET.

  • Devices that can accept the next update

This update dates back to the iPhone 6s, so if you have that iPhone model or any later version, you’re good to go.

  • Will all iPhones support the new features of iOS 15?

The processing chip is the first thing to consider to know if your phone will accept the functions of the new operating system. Phones without the A12 chip or later miss functions such as portrait mode or spatial audio in FaceTime prompt Immersive Walking and Live Text, allowing users to search for text in photos or screenshots.

  • How to update your iPhone or iPad with iOS 15

The first thing to do is go to “Settings,” click on the “General” option, then “Software update.” Your iPhone will tell you if iOS 15 is ready to go. When available, plug in your device or make sure your device has 50% battery life or more. Then tap “Install Now.”

Some older phones should allow users to upgrade by connecting to a laptop and going through iTunes if you prefer a connected option.

Final words

The most notable change with iOS 15 is an update to FaceTime. Users also get a Focus mode to help manage distracting notifications, updates to the Weather and Map apps, and the option to add their state ID or personal driver’s license to their Apple Wallet, though that feature won’t come in the box launching.

There are also messaging changes, live text on photos, new Memoji, and more. Both Apple apps get major updates. For weather, data and layouts will change based on a forecast, including animated graphics and backgrounds.
