Miley and Noah Cyrus’s mother, Tish Cyrus, has found love again. On Saturday, Cyrus, previously married to country music star Billy Ray Cyrus, made an Instagram announcement about her engagement to British-Australian actor Dominic Purcell.
For his parts in “Prison Break,” “Equilibrium,” and “Assault on Wall Street,” Purcell is best known. In the post, Cyrus included two images of the recently engaged couple. In the first, a close-up of Cyrus’ square-cut engagement ring is displayed, and in the second, Cyrus and Purcell are shown cuddling.
Cyrus wrote, “A thousand times… YES.” A few days prior to the couple’s announcement of their engagement, Purcell posted a picture of them together on Instagram and included a heartfelt tribute to Cyrus.

“Punching way above my weight – yep absolutely, I’m a lucky bastard,” Purcell captioned the post. “She’s the best human ever. Love ya love.” This will be Cyrus’ third marriage following their impending nuptials.
From 1986 to 1989, Cyrus was wed to Baxter Neal Helson. In 1993, Cyrus wed Billy Ray Cyrus after waiting four years.
Billy Ray and Cyrus are parents to five kids: Brandi, 35; Trace, 34; Miley, 30; Braison, 28; and Noah, 23. Brandi and Trace, Cyrus’ children from her marriage to Helson, were taken in by Billy Ray.
According to court records obtained by USA TODAY, Cyrus filed for divorce from Billy Ray in April 2022, alleging irreconcilable differences. According to the divorce case, the couple had not shared a residence for more than two years.
The couple had previously filed for divorce twice: once in 2010 with Billy Ray and again in 2013 with Cyrus. The pair told USA TODAY that “after 30 years, five amazing children, and a lifetime of memories, we have decided to go our separate ways — not with sadness, but with love in our hearts.”
The statement was issued by Billy Ray’s representative Scott Adkins. “We have grown up together, raised a family we can be so proud of, and it is now time to create our own paths,” the couple added.
“We will always be family and look forward to a continued and loving shared experience as friends and parents. We have not come to this decision lightly or quickly but with so much going on in the world, we wanted to provide some clarity and closure, so we can remain focused on what is important.”
