The Crown will last significantly longer than previously believed. Despite initial reports that the show’s fifth season will be its final, Netflix has confirmed that the series will continue beyond Season 5. The primary concern, though, is that fans will have to wait longer than usual for it to return due to coronavirus-related delays.
Despite the delays, Netflix has already begun unveiling the new royal cast. (Similarly to Claire Foy and Matt Smith in Seasons 1 and 2, Olivia Colman and co. will be replaced by different performers in Seasons 5 and 6.) Here’s what we know about the upcoming chapter of The Crown, including who will appear in it and when it will air.
New episodes will premiere in November 2022
This year, Deadline said the show was taking a break, and filming wouldn’t start again until the summer of 2021, when the show would start back up again. Variety later said that the movie was made in July. It’s not because of the coronavirus outbreak that The Crown is taking a break from filming. “The filming break has always been part of The Crown’s production schedule,” the publication says.
In September, Imelda Staunton said that the show will be back on Netflix in November 2022.
As he wrote the fifth season of The Crown, creator Peter Morgan decided that it was “the perfect time and place to end.”
When Morgan changed his mind in July 2020, it became clear that Netflix was going to make a sixth season after all.

What will season 5 be about?
Nobody knows what the fifth season of The Crown will cover. Season 4 came to an end in 1990, the year Thatcher was “thrown out” of her job as Prime Minister. Season 5, then, is likely to cover the early 90s.
If you want to know when season 6 ends, Deadline says it will be in the “early 2000s.” The show will probably not show, for example, the college courtship between Prince William and Kate Middleton, or Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding, but it might show other things.
Remember that a lot of big things happened inside and outside the palace walls between 1990 and 2020. People who have been in charge of the country have been called “major,” “blair,” “brown,” “Cameron,” and “May.” Princess Anne and Mark Phillips broke up in 1992. Prince Charles and Princess Diana broke up in 1996, and Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson broke up in 1996. She died in 1997. During the year 2002, Princess Margaret and the Queen Mother died less than two months apart. In the fall of that year, Queen Elizabeth celebrated her Golden Jubilee after 50 years as head of the country.
It was made in 2006, and Morgan wrote the script. Some of these events were shown in the film The Queen, which Morgan made.
