On Sunday afternoon, there was a report of gunfire at Northlake Mall in north Charlotte, prompting officers from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department to dispatch a response.
After an altercation between two people, police believe one gun was discharged inside the mall near the DTLR shoe store. Due to the incident that occurred at 1:48 p.m., the mall had to close.
Two people who were not shot were sent to the hospital for treatment. According to the police, no one was hurt in the shooting. Reports from mall patrons who were there at the time of the shooting are included below.
One shopper said:
“We wanted to get out of there. We were running. A lot of people running. There was a lot of noise. There were actually still people sitting down while we were running. They were just looking around not realising what was going on. And we let them know that there were gunshots and they needed to get up and leave.”

No one has been taken into custody in connection with this investigation. As a result of the event on Sunday, the following statement was released by Northlake Mall:
“We are working with local authorities on the incident that happened at Northlake Mall on Sunday afternoon. The mall will remain closed for the remainder of today. Please reach out to CMPD with any further questions.”
