Early life
Dolores Janney Rivera Saavedra, the full name of Jenni Rivera, was born July 2, 1969, in Long Beach, California, to Pedro Rivera and Rosa Saavedra. Her parents raised her and her six siblings as a single unit. Rivera’s relatives taught her to Mexican folk music. By the time she was 15, she had already given birth to her first child, earning her the academic distinction of an A grade.
