Exiting concert watchers broadcast lengthy videos of the fire to social media with the predictable “The Weeknd’s concert was so hot that the stadium caught fire” comments. The Weeknd did not address the fire in his social media posts following the concert, which included lyrics from his 2019 hit tune “Blinding Lights” that made reference to Las Vegas.
The Weeknd debuted a new trailer for his upcoming HBO series “The Idol” at the concert as well. The Weeknd, Suzanna Son, Troye Sivan, Moses Sumney, Jane Adams, Dan Levy, Jennie Ruby Jane, Eli Roth, Rachel Sennott, Hari Nef, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Mike Dean, Ramsey, and Hank Azaria are just some of the actors who make brief appearances in the trailer. Despite the trailer’s promise of a “coming soon” premiere, no such date has yet been announced.
The Weeknd will perform two performances at Sofi Stadium in Los Angeles on September 2-3 to close out the West Coast legs of his “After Hours Til Dawn” stadium tour of North America. The trip continues in Vancouver on Tuesday.
The Weeknd’s hometown will host the final show of the leg on September 22 at Rogers Stadium, where the tour was supposed to kick off on July 8. But it was postponed at the last minute due to an outage of the Rogers wireless network that disrupted communications across the country, including the venue’s ticketing and sales operations.
