Bodyguard is a political thriller television series written and directed by Jed Mercurio and for the BBC the series was produced by World Productions. The series consists of six parts and follows Sergeant David Budd whose role is being played by Richard Madden, who now works for the Royalty and Specialist Protection Branch of Metropolitan Police Service of London.
He is designated as the principal protection officer for the Home Secretary Julia Montague whose name is Keeley Hawes and he hates her politics. The series reflects many concerns regarding the dispute and misunderstanding around the government looking into confidential information and its rules.
The series first season premiered on 26th August 2018 on BBC One and was watched by the highest number of audiences and the leading BBC viewers since 2008. Netflix also broadcast the series outside Ireland and the United Kingdom.
Bodyguard Season 2 Release Date
Till now, season 2 of the show has not been officially announced, but the same has not been cancelled as well. As per the tweet of Jed Mercurio, it’s quite good enough to say that the renewal of the series is confirmed but there is no update even on filming so we cannot expect any release date soon and it’s already almost 3 years since the first season premiered.
Bodyguard Season 2 Cast
Although there is no official announcement regarding the cast, the series won’t remain like before without Budd so it can be expected that we will see Madden again as the main character. There are several other casts whom we may see returning like Gina McKee may be seen as Commander Anne Sampson, Nina Toussaint-White may be seen as DS Louise Rayburn, Ash Tandon may be seen as DCI Deepak Sharma, Sophie Rundle may be seen as Vicky Budd.
Its expected that Hawes will not make comeback as Montague and we may also see some other supporting character also in future but not confirmed yet as Stuart Bowman may appear as Stephen Hunter-Dunn, Pippa Haywood may be seen as crooked CSI Lorraine Craddock, Vincent Franklin as Minister of State Mike Travis and Michael Schaeffer may be as the mysterious “Richard Longcross.” It is also supposed to see a time jump in season two also.
Bodyguard Season 2 Plot
In season one ending, Budd efficiently discloses who is after the assassination of Montague, including several people under the government who manipulates the system in order to permit fraudulent dealings and hence the same went unnoticed. After that, Budd precisely gets reid of any offences related to the death of Montague and chooses to get help in order to patch up and clear all differences with Vicky and the kids for his PTSD. Towards the end, it seemed like they both aren’t going to be together anymore and are planning to end their relationship and meet new people, but they decide to continue co-parenting.
After the truth is revealed, the Prime Minister is forced to give resignation accompanying Hunter-Dunn who is the leader of MI-5. Longcross flees custody and leaves in confusion to explore his identity and ambitions. There are very few interfaces between Budd and Longcross in Season 1, they are interesting and tense as well and fans are waiting to see them in the coming season. As of now, there is nothing about the synopsis of Bodyguard Season 2 and the audience and fans may have to wait a little longer for the announcement of the same.

Since there are no updates even regarding the filming of the series, we cannot predict any probable date of release of the Trailer for the second season of the series.
