Puth studied jazz piano at the Manhattan School of Music Pre-College before enrolling at the Berklee College of Music in Boston to specialize in music production and engineering. During his time at Berklee, he participated in numerous music projects and acquired experience in music production and arrangement.
Puth also began publishing cover songs and original compositions on YouTube, which assisted him in gaining an online following.
