Long-time Eyewitness News This Morning anchor Ken Rosato has been let go after a hot mic allegedly caught him making an “off-color remark” about his co-host. Eyewitness News This Morning is broadcast on New York’s WABC 7.
An unnamed source told Page Six that Rosato was “immediately fired” following his being heard “on an open mic” calling his co-anchor Shirleen Allicot a “c***.” Rosato’s contract had been terminated, and his coworkers had been told of his departure, according to an email the publication received on Friday, May 12.

The source conjectured Rosato may have used a racial slur before it was reported that he allegedly used the c-word to refer to his coworker. But Rosato’s representative promptly refuted this.
“Being fired for any racial slur is 100 percent inaccurate and untrue. Ken Rosato had a benchmark of 20 years at WABC of supporting all equality.” The representative informed the publication on Friday.

Rosato began working as a freelance reporter in 2003. In 2007, she was moved to morning and lunchtime anchor.
He took over for former anchor Steve Bartelstein, who was similarly let go but not for making objectionable comments; instead, he was let go for “sleeping through a newsbreak he was to anchor.”
Rosato co-hosted the news program with Lori Stokes and Bill Evans before taking over as the anchor. He co-hosted in recent years with Sam Champion, Heather O’Rourke, and Allicot. He was given an Emmy Award for reporting a steam pipe explosion in New York City on July 19, 2007.
According to an email addressed to colleagues, Rosato “is no longer with WABC,” WABC hasn’t officially commented on the matter. The email’s final sentence said, “We thank him for his years of service.”
Rosato’s profile has been deleted from the network’s website as of Friday, and his ABC 7-affiliated official Twitter account has been deactivated.
