We wouldn’t mind kissing Drake’s brand new ring. The rapper, who has won multiple Grammy Awards, recently had a custom ring made by New York jeweller Alex Moss. The bespoke piece, dubbed the Godfather Ring, is a far cry from the plain silver band Marlon Brando’s Vito Corleone made subordinates smooch in Francis Ford Coppola’s 1972 classic The Godfather. Here you will read that Drake’s 13-Diamond godfather ring is an extravaganza and details on that.
Champagne Instead of a single large diamond, Papi’s 18-karat white-gold ring is set with 12 smaller oval diamonds, all of which are VVS (very, very slightly included). Moss, who was hired by Drizzy directly, had a very little amount of time to make the one-off, and he claimed, “there was no space for error.” Named after the Godfather because of his towering stature and authoritative demeanour.
The ring, like Coppola’s film, is the middle instalment of a set. Moss also made a set of iced-out jewellery for the “Hotline Bling” singer in his Fifth Avenue studio. The diamond studs that have become Drake’s trademark look great with the rest of the ensemble.
Moss has also crafted other items for Drake, so these aren’t the only ones he owns. The rapper’s Lucky Number Eleven Ring was previously faked by the jeweller. Drake’s fashion label OVO (October’s Very Own) is represented by the owl design shown in this diamond-encrusted item. The musician’s son, Adonis Graham, was born on October 11, therefore the ring may potentially be a connection to him.
Moss and his eponymous studio look to have quite the A-list clientele, far beyond the ranks of Canadian rap royalty. From Tyler, the Creator and Jack Harlow to Bella Thorne and more, famous people have been seen wearing jewellery from the jeweller’s portfolio. The designs all seem to have the same more-is-more look that celebrities who prefer to show off seem to choose.
