After a fight broke out at Friday’s Indiana performance featuring Wiz Khalifa and Logic, three concertgoers were sent to nearby hospitals for treatment of minor injuries.
The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office reported on their Facebook that a fight had broken out on the lawn of the Ruoff Music Center in Noblesville (a suburb of Indianapolis) on Friday night.
After “the emergency action plan was initiated and executed, and all gates including nonpublic exits were unlocked,” authorities reported that “security officers responded immediately” and “patrons self-evacuated.” After bringing in “several quick response teams” and searching the area, police found no weapons.
Neither the cause of the disturbance nor the extent of any injuries was specified by the sheriff’s office. According to the Associated Press, Ruoff’s owner and promoter, Live Nation, issued a statement on Saturday praising “staff and local authorities for acting immediately to help everyone in attendance.”
The safety and security practices of the Beverly Hills-based company have come under increasing scrutiny following the deaths at Astroworld and Once Upon a Time in L.A., according to a recent Times review of wrongful death and injury lawsuits and interviews with security experts, Live Nation employees, and witnesses to concert tragedies.
Khalifa and Logic’s Vinyl Verse summer tour, which began last month in Irvine and Los Angeles and will end this Friday in St. Louis, is in its last week. These hip-hop superstars’ summer tour lineup includes 24kGoldn, DJ Drama, Fedd the God, C Dot Castro, Rubi Rose, and Berner, among others, as opening acts.
Both the “See You Again” artist and the “Homicide” artist will be performing this weekend, starting in Burgettstown, Pennsylvania on Sunday night before moving on to Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, and Clarkston, Michigan.
