Her middle name has referred to her since she was a young child. Her mother worked as a nurse and teacher, and her father is an emeritus professor of pure mathematics at the University of Leeds. Truss has said that both of her parents are to the left of Labour, with her mother being active in the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament.
