Joshua Matthew Sills is an offensive guard for the Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League. He was born on January 26, 1998, and now plays for the team (NFL). He attended West Virginia and Oklahoma State for his NCAA football playing careers. On February 1, 2023, he was charged with rape and indicted on those crimes.
Personal life
Since their son began playing football when he was nine years old, Sills’ parents, John and Kim, have attended all of their son’s games, causing their 2013 Nissan Altima to rack up more than 232,000 miles (373,000 kilometers) of driving distance.
Sills was indicted on counts of rape and kidnapping by a grand jury in Guernsey County, Ohio, on January 31, 2023. The charges arise from allegations that he forcibly restrained and assaulted a lady in December 2019, and the indictment was handed down on that day.
According to statements made by prosecutors in the state of Ohio, the claims are associated with a situation that took place on December 5, 2019, in Guernsey County.
Authorities accuse Sills, a rookie backup tackle for the Eagles who joined the team this season as an undrafted free agency, of engaging in sexual activity with a victim without her consent and holding her against her will. Sills joined the Eagles as an undrafted free agent.
According to the statements made by the prosecution, the investigation into the case was carried out by the Guernsey County Sheriff’s Office. This Monday, a grand jury handed down an indictment against Sills, charging him with one felony offense of rape as well as one felony count of kidnapping.
After the alleged victim promptly reported the incident to the Guernsey County Sheriff’s Department, they “conducted a full investigation” into the matter.
The investigation and subsequent prosecution of the case are currently being overseen by the Special Prosecutions section of Attorney General Dave Yost’s office. The matter was initially presented before a grand jury of the Guernsey County Common Pleas Court. Sills was given a court summons to appear on February 16 after his club, the Philadelphia Eagles, competed in Super Bowl LVII versus the Kansas City Chiefs. The game took place four days after the Super Bowl.
Sills received his undergraduate education from both Oklahoma State University and West Virginia University. Sills played high school football in Ohio and attended both institutions. This season, he was only involved in a handful of plays for the Eagles, and he participated in the team’s lone game, which was played on October 9 versus the Cardinals.

“I don’t really know how to explain it. There’s not enough words to describe what that means to me, just the love, willingness, caringness, and compassion that they have is unreal,” he said.
“I think the biggest thing that has kind of helped me is I enjoy hard work,” Sills told SI. “My dad, both my parents, instilled that into me at a young age. We didn’t always have the best things or the nicest things, but they would make sure that my sister and I would have what we needed. Seeing that, and being around that, just kind of helped shape me into the person that I am today.”
