Slang words have been used throughout history, however, it appears that there are currently more than ever due to the increased usage of the internet.
New slang phrases appear to be sprouting up left, right, and centre online as social media platforms such as TikTok gain popularity.
The term “Glizzy” is an excellent example, and while it was used online before this year, it has become much more popular in recent months.
What does Glizzy mean?
Glizzy refers to a hotdog or the sausage that goes on top of one.
Glizzy can also refer to a Glock or a sort of gun, according to Urban Dictionary; however, most TikTok videos containing the word Glizzy do not relate to a Glock.
One of the films with the hashtag Glizzy has over 2 million likes and shows a man catching a hotdog, or “Glizzy,” tossed from across the room in his mouth.
Another video, with over two million views, shows numerous people attempting to capture hotdogs in their mouths, but failing miserably!

The phrase “Glizzy Gobbler” refers to someone who consumes a large number of hotdogs or consumes them aggressively.
According to Junkee, the slang word was even used on ESPN when a competitive eater named Joey Chestnut was dubbed the “Glizzy Gladiator” after devouring 75 hotdogs in 10 minutes during the 2020 Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest.
