“We’ll Handle That The Way I Handle Things,” Trump Said About A Possible Challenge From Desantis

“We’ll manage that the way I handle things,” the 45th President of the United States, Donald Trump, said about the prospect of the current Republican Governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis, running for President in 2024. This statement was meant to convey a sense of assurance.

On Monday, during an interview with David Brody on “The Water Cooler,” the question of whether or not it would be a “poor move” for Ron DeSantis to enter the run for President was posed to President Trump. Although the governor of Florida has not made a public declaration of his intention to run for President as Trump has, it is common knowledge that he is giving serious consideration to entering the Republican primary.

“So you know, I just got word that he might want to run against me in the election. After boasting about his support of DeSantis’s successful first run for governor, Trump stated in part, “So we’ll handle that the way I manage things.” DeSantis’s campaign was Trump’s first successful endorsement of a candidate for statewide office.

DeSantis has been found to have a lead against Trump in hypothetical matchups in several recent polls. According to a survey that was conducted by Yahoo News and YouGov and published the previous month, registered voters favored DeSantis over Trump by a margin of 47 to 42 percent. In a separate poll conducted in December by Vanderbilt University, DeSantis received 54 percent of the vote among registered Republicans, while Trump received 41 percent.

This prompted President Trump to disclose polling of his own that was conducted by the polling firm McLaughlin & Associates, which had worked on his campaign for the 2020 presidential election. The polling showed that Trump had a lead over DeSantis of 58 percent to 36 percent.

A resounding victory for the Florida Republican that members of the party saw as a silver lining in an otherwise difficult midterm night for Republicans, Ron DeSantis’ profile has risen even further since he was reelected in November by a margin of 19 points. This victory was a highlight for Republicans on an otherwise challenging night in the midterm elections.

In the meantime, a large number of candidates who had Trump’s support were unsuccessful in the general election, prompting members of the party to question whether or not the former President still influences voters and the party. The Hill has contacted the campaign for DeSantisĀ in an effort to obtain a statement.
