United Way Begins '22 Campaign With Concert

On Thursday, the United Way of Portage County launched its 2022 fundraising drive. According to a press release from the United Way, the organization’s 2018 fundraising campaign will center on ensuring access to quality education, quality healthcare, and financial stability.

Malamania, a vintage Afro-Latin trio, performed as part of the CREATE Portage District Levitt Amp Series. Ben Nusz and Cindy Weber, who will be focusing on education, Deb Furgason and Fred Eichmiller, who will be focusing on health, and Kim Angell and Craig Aittama, who will be focusing on financial stability, were honored as the United Way’s 2022 co-chair team at the concert.

The event’s host was emcee Ben Nusz. The “United Way Dance” he and his wife, Chamomile, taught the audience will be displayed on United Way’s many online profiles. The United Way collected a “substantial amount” of school supplies for Project Fresh Start, and many spectators went home with free T-shirts.

The United Way of Portage County says…

Great Lakes Educational Loan Services raised $11,212; Wysocki Family of Companies raised $31,625, an increase of over 8% from last year’s employee campaign; Delta Dental of Wisconsin raised $327,734 has over 86 percent participation; and Northwinds Technology Solutions raised $65,171, an increase of nearly 50% from last year.

Already more than 20% of this year’s local goal of $3.125 million has been raised by the United Way of Portage County.
