Michael Thomas Green, better known as Tom Green, was born on July 30, 1971, in Pembroke, Ontario, Canada. Mary Jane Green, his mother, was a communications consultant, and Richard Green, his father, was a computer systems analyst and retired army captain. Green grew up on a Canadian Army installation near Pembroke, CFB Petawawa, as well as in Ottawa, as a result of his father’s military service. He attended Colonel By Secondary School and Cairine Wilson Secondary School before attending Algonquin College and graduating in 1994 with a degree in television broadcasting.
Green began performing stand-up comedy at the age of 15 in local comedy clubs. The most well-known of these establishments was Yuk Yuk’s comedy club.
