After having to cancel his show in Los Angeles’s SoFi Stadium after only three songs, The Weeknd is giving his audience an update on the condition of his voice. The Weeknd also confirmed that his scheduled presentations in Toronto will go as planned and that his team was seeking to reschedule Saturday’s event.
‘Doctor says my voice is safe and with rest, I’ll be solid and ready to offer the concert my TORONTO fans are waiting for,’ he wrote on Instagram. A plan to meet in Los Angeles is in the works. I appreciate the kindness and compassion shown to me so much. So much love for you all… XO” Approximately 15 minutes into his performance, The Weeknd said that he had lost his voice and had to stop.
“I don’t know what just happened… but I just lost my voice,” he told the crowd. “This is killing me, I don’t want to stop the show but I can’t give you the concert I want to give you right now. I’m gonna make sure everybody’s good, you’ll get your money back. I’ll do a show real soon for you guys. But I wanted to come out and personally apologize.”
His voice gave out after the first song, and he later explained his sadness in a social media post: My stomach sank as I felt it leave my body. I sincerely apologize to my local following. I’ll try to make up for it by taking you out on a new date.
Later this year, The Weeknd will also be featured on the HBO series The Idol.
