The Kansas City Chiefs selected Kansas State pass rusher Felix Anudike-Uzomah with the 31st overall choice on Thursday night, using the final pick of the first round of the hometown NFL draft to select a hometown player.
Anudike-Uzomah was raised in the Kansas City suburb of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, where she excelled in high school, before traveling down Interstate 70 to play for the Wildcats.
By his sophomore year, he was a starter in the Big 12, and following his junior year, when he was named the league’s defensive player of the year, he announced his intention to enter the draft.

For the Chiefs, who had to release Frank Clark to free up some salary cap space, Anudike-Uzomah addresses a critical need.
The Chiefs added defensive end George Karlaftis to their roster with a first-round choice from the previous year, giving them two young players to lead their pass rush for years. Karlaftis contributed six sacks to the Chiefs’ Super Bowl victory as a rookie.
