“I’m still trying to wrap my head around it. That night, going from an all-time high to an all-time low, it’s pretty rough to try to comprehend,” Hutchinson said. He claimed that friends and family from around the nation had traveled to be with the couple.

“She was so happy. I mean, planning a wedding, as most people know, is extremely stressful. And she just had a weird, like, calmness that night,” The evenings of the wedding and reception were among the happiest of Hutchinson’s life.

Police report made public by the Folly Beach Department of Public Safety, Komoroski was allegedly traveling 65 mph in a 25 mph zone at the time of the collision. Komoroski had a blood alcohol content over three times the legal limit, according to a toxicological report.

After her arrest, Komoroski’s lawyer released a statement in which he said: “We cannot fathom what the families are going through and offer our deepest sympathies. We simply ask that there not be a rush to judgment. Our court system is founded upon principles of justice and mercy and that is where all facts will come to light.”

Hutchinson sued Komoroski and numerous neighborhood taverns and eateries where she is believed to have consumed alcohol the night of the collision on Wednesday.

Komoroski’s employer said there was no “officially organized employee function around drinking” and Komoroski had only recently begun his job-related training.

Hutchinson stated that he is not prepared to respond to Komoroski at this moment. “I can’t right now,” he said. “I’d like to. I mean, she stole an amazing human being that should not have been taken.”

He claimed that for the time being, his attention is on recovering while clinging to his fond memories of Sam. He returned to the flat they shared on the third floor and claimed to still be able to feel her presence.

“It’s hard, but it’s also nice. It’s got Sam written all over the house,” he remarked. “I know she’s up there watching, just laughing at me trying to get up and down these stairs because it was her decision to go to the third floor.”
