The recently released Netflix documentary about the late Anna Nicole Smith, the mother of his 16-year-old daughter Dannielynn, has sparked intense feelings in Larry Birkhead. Birkhead claims he declined to participate in the documentary for several reasons in a statement to ET.
“We declined to participate as I did not want my daughter in an overwhelmingly poorly reviewed cesspool of a project about her Mother, where some people were allowed to invent things and rewrite history,” Birkhead said.
“I am looking forward to a true definitive Anna Nicole project where her truth can be heard from her own perspective and by those that truly knew her the best and not just another ‘wash, rinse and repeat’ Anna Nicole project. Anna truly deserved better and that day will come.”

The movie, which premiered on Netflix in 2017, is described as a “humanizing examination of the life, death and secrets of Vickie Lynn Hogan — better known as model and actress Anna Nicole Smith. From her first appearance in Playboy in 1992, Anna Nicole’s dizzying ascent was the very essence of the American dream, brought to a tragic halt with her untimely passing in 2007.”

Smith passed away in Hollywood, Florida, on February 8, 2007. 39 years old. Her 16-year-old daughter, who resides with Birkhead, is her surviving family member.
Dannielynn made a stylish statement earlier this month by donning a blouse with images of Smith from some of her most memorable Guess campaigns. As part of their yearly custom, the father-daughter combo wore the attire to the Kentucky Derby Eve Gala.

Birkhead marked the occasion’s 20th anniversary of the day he first met Smith. Later, Birkhead and Dannielynn went to the 149th Kentucky Derby. Richie Sambora, a great guitarist, gave Dannielynn a private guitar lesson before they arrived.
