Texas has been dealing with rising COVID-19 cases caused by the Delta variant and its effects are not only felt by the Texans but most especially the healthcare front liners.
It’s been over a year and a half since doctors and nurses in Texas started taking care of COVID-19 patients.
Although it was starting to improve in the latter part of spring, the number of cases started to surge in the state again from mid to late July due to the new Delta variant.
This took a toll on hospital systems and staff as they are being pushed beyond the limits of their capabilities.
During this recent COVID-19 surge, the doctors and nurses are dealing more with younger patients and children and most of the patients are unvaccinated.
Although these healthcare workers are trying their best to take care of those infected patients with many suffering fatally severe conditions, this is also testing their limits.
One Texas nurse shared her meltdown while she was in her car after arriving home from a 12 ½ – hour shift. She also shared how her day in the hospital goes and that she is already very close to giving up nursing.
Jessnicki24 expressed her frustration in her video saying, she can ‘only do what she can do’, she added, she is already at the point of quitting as she feels like it’s not going to get better.
The medical community needs our support especially the COVID front-liners who deal with the patients because they are trying their best to save lives, even not being vaccinated or having patients not wanting to fight for their life anymore.

A follow-up video was later on posted by Jessnicki24 thanking everyone who showed love and support on her first video. She then added that she was just overwhelmed with the current challenging crisis but she still loves her job.
With or without vaccination, we all still need to help in mitigating the spread of COVID-19 through limiting interactions with other people, maintaining at least a six-foot distance, and wearing a mask. COVID-19 has no known cure yet, but we have vaccines to help our defenses and masks to protect us.
