Tessa Thompson Talks About 'Thor Love And Thunder'

This evening, the big screen adaptation of Thor: Love and Thunder will premiere, and it will be interesting to see what Thor and company have been up to. The movie will bring back a number of characters, including Valkyrie, The Mighty Thor (Natalie Portman), and the Guardians of the Galaxy (Tessa Thompson). As King of New Asgard, Valkyrie has received a significant promotion, hence she has been quite active. However, you would expect love to be in the air with a movie called Love and Thunder. In a recent interview, Thompson talked about the character’s love of live music and a potential relationship with Captain Marvel (Brie Larson).

“I am aware that the heart desires what it desires. I don’t… I can’t talk to Valkyrie just yet. She has been tasked with many kingly duties, thus she hasn’t had much time to devote to her love life “Pink Villa was told by Thompson. “But the MCU is home to many incredible people—men, women, and otherworldly creatures—who are also present in the canon of potential MCU characters. So, I believe there are a lot of fish in the sea. She is a loner. She’s all set to socialise. And I adore Carol and I in the comics… I have a great friendship with Brie Larson, and I enjoy hanging out with her. So I definitely wouldn’t be angry about it.”

Thor: Love and Thunder will need to cover a lot of ground in a short amount of time because its running time is on the shorter side for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Recently, Thompson disclosed that the sexuality of her characters would play a significant role in the future sequel. Thompson explained how that affects the plot in an interview with Yahoo Entertainment.

In a movie like this, where there isn’t, quite honestly, much place for storyline, “it becomes the only storyline,” Thompson told the website. “As a result, there was much discussion about how to handle that with Valkyrie. And I’m personally pretty happy with where we’ve come. I hope that fans will continue to identify with her and that we will have plenty of time to examine her in all of her humanity. However, whether or not she does so in this film, she is still a fantastic LGBT heroine who is willing to fall in love when it makes sense.”

Thor: Love and Thunder is described as follows by Marvel Studios: “In the movie, Thor (Chris Hemsworth) embarks on a search for inner peace that is unlike anything he has ever experienced. But an assassin from another galaxy known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who wants to wipe off the gods, interrupts his retirement. King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi), and his ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) join forces with Thor to defeat the menace. To Thor’s amazement, Jane Foster mysteriously holds his mystical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor. Together, they set out on a perilous cosmic quest to unravel the truth behind the God Butcher’s retaliation and put an end to him before it’s too late.”

With Chris Hemsworth playing the title role, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Natalie Portman as Jane Foster/Mighty Thor, Russell Crowe as Zeus, Jaimie Alexander as Lady Sif, Chris Pratt as Peter Quill/Star Lord, Sean Gunn as Kraglin, Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer, Karen Gillan as Nebula, and Christian Bale as Gorr the God Butcher, the movie is being directed by Taika Waititi Waititi will reprise his role as Korg in addition to serving as the director. On July 8, 2022, Thor: Love and Thunder opens in theatres.
