Tell Me Lies Has Been Renewed For A Second Season On Hulu

Hulu is looking to expand its library of cheesy love stories. Tell Me Lies has been picked up for a second season on the Disney-owned streaming service just over a month after the conclusion of its first season, which consisted of 10 episodes. The drama was created by Meaghan Oppenheimer, who also serves as the showrunner and 20th Television. The show is based on a novel written by Carola Lovering.

The first season follows the turbulent, intoxicating, and just plain toxic relationship that develops over eight years between Lucy Albright (Grace Van Patten) and Stephen DeMarco (Jackson White). They first cross paths at college, a moment in their lives when seemingly insignificant decisions can have far-reaching and irreversible repercussions.

Even though Lucy and Stephen’s relationship starts like any other campus romance, the two of them quickly become entangled in an addictive relationship that will not only permanently change their lives but also the lives of everyone around them.

Catherine Missal, Spencer House, Sonia Mena, Branden Cook, Benjamin Wadsworth, and Alicia Crowder are among the members of the cast for the first season. In addition to Van Patten and White, the cast also includes these individuals.

The majority of reviews that were written about the series were favorable. It was described as “a guilty pleasure in the truest sense” by Angie Han of The Hollywood Reporter. She said that it was “one whose juicy delights are tempered with enough harsh realism to make it stick, just a little bit, in the throat.” (Hulu does not routinely provide viewership data for its shows, and Nielsen’s top 10 streaming originals list did not include Tell Me Lies at any point during its run.)

Oppenheimer serves as an executive producer alongside Emma Roberts, Karah Preiss, and Matt Matruski of Belletrist Productions; Laura Lewis and Stephanie Noonan of Rebelle Media; Shannon Gibson and Sam Schlaifer of Vice Media’s Refinery29; and Jonathan Levine. Belletrist Productions has a first-look TV deal with Hulu. Author Lovering works as a consultant for many productions.
