On a musical night of Rock & Roll, the gems of this genre were felicitated and honored by the likes of Taylor Swift, Former U.S. President Barack Obama, and Paul McCartney for their induction in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
The ceremony took place in Cleaveland, saw all the famed names make their way to the event such as Eminem, JLo, Dr. Dre, Keith Urban amongst many others. It was a power-packed evening with scintillating performances.
Taylor Swift’s pop version of “Will You Love Me Tomorrow” kicked off the evening in style. Jennifer Hudson sang “A Natural Woman” to honor the singer-songwriter King, 79. Speaking about Carole King, Swift said “I can’t remember a time when I didn’t know Carole King’s music,”, calling her “Tapestry” album “a watershed moment for humans in the world with feelings.”
JAY-Z, 51, was praised for his contribution to the genre, and also for his other achievements in life, by Obama and comedian Dave Chappelle, amongst others.
It almost became a teary-eyed moment when Obama, on video call called this 23-time Grammy winner “the embodiment of the American Dream” for his tremendous journey in life. JAY-Z came from a poor New York neighborhood and today stands as a billionaire songwriter, record executive, and businessman.

Expressing his gratitude, he said, “That’s a lot. Trying to make me cry in front of all these white people!” jokingly. “Growing up we didn’t think we could be inducted in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. We were told that hip-hop was a fad.”
By induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, the community aims to recognize artists who have contributed more than 25 years in the industry. Selections are made on the basis of ballots sent by the Hall of Fame to over 1,200 artists, historians, and members of the music industry. Votes are also invited from the public, on their website.
The Ceremony is expected to be the first broadcast on cable channel HBO on Nov. 20.
