On Sunday, the Chairman of the National Republican Senate Committee (NRSC), Senator Rick Scott (R-Florida), declined to comment on whether or not he would back former President Donald Trump in the event that he decided to run for president again in 2024. Scott is from Florida.
During Scott’s interview on the News programme “Meet the Press,” host Chuck Todd questioned whether he would back a presidential run by Donald Trump in 2024.
To sidestep the topic, Scott responded, “There’s going to be a lot of individuals probably announced.” “We will wait and see what develops. My main objective is to win a majority in the Senate right now.”
During a rally on Friday in Iowa, Trump told his fans to “get ready” for an official announcement, continuing a pattern in which he has regularly hinted that one is about to be made.
The previous leader of the country stated that he was “very, very, very likely” to run for office once more “to make our country successful, safe, and wonderful.”
Last month, Scott offered some mild criticism for Trump after the former president said that Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky) has a “death wish” and mocked Elaine Chao, who is Mitch McConnell’s wife and was also Trump’s former secretary of Transportation, by calling her “his China-loving wife, Coco Chow.” Scott’s comments came after Trump said that McConnell’s wife is “his China-loving wife, Coco Chow.”
In response to a question by CNN’s Dana Bash regarding comments made by Trump in October, Scott stated, “I don’t condone violence, and I hope no one else condones violence.”
He continued, saying, “It is in no way, shape, or form acceptable to be racist.”
During that interview, Scott avoided answering a question regarding Trump posed by Bash, who wanted to know if Republican Governor Ron DeSantis should attend a rally held by Trump in Florida.
The response from Scott was that “it’s a choice everybody takes.” “I mean, I’m aware President Trump is working hard to guarantee that we win back the majority in the Senate.”
During his interview on Sunday, Scott declined to answer whether he had his sights set on majority leadership in the Senate if Republicans retook the chamber on Tuesday.
He stated, “I’m not focused on anything other than gaining the majority on Tuesday night.” [Citation needed] “Everyone wants to ask me about several different things,” she said. Todd responded, “That’s not an answer.”
“Tuesday night is the only thing on my mind,” Scott stated again.
The senator added that he would “definitely” acknowledge the results of Tuesday’s midterm elections as legitimate and move on.
Scott said, “But what we’re also going to do is do everything we can to guarantee that they’re free and fair for everybody.” “And if anyone is doing–if there are any shenanigans, we’re ready to make sure, we make sure we support our candidates to ensure that these elections are fair and that every ballot is tallied accurately,” she said. “And if anyone is doing–if there are any shenanigans, we’re ready to make sure.”
“I’m just, I’m so disappointed that the Democrats don’t want to have voter ID, given that they have it for everything else,” he added. “I’m just; I’m so unhappy that the Democrats don’t want to have a voter ID.” “It is not acceptable for us to harvest ballots. But I’m going to do everything in my power to ensure this election is free and fair, and we need to keep working to improve our voting rules every year so we can do so.”
